Pitchess is not one building. The Castaic complex has several separate men's facilities on The Old Road: Pitchess North, Pitchess South, Pitchess East and the North County Correctional Facility (NCCF). NCCF is the biggest, a maximum security facility with five housing pods and room for 4,295 people.
Men are usually booked first at a station or the Inmate Reception Center, then moved to Castaic for housing. That means he may have been in custody for a while before he shows up at Pitchess. Bail can still be posted while he is there, as long as he has a bail amount.
LA County jails are slow to release. From Chad's experience, release usually takes around 8 hours after the bond is accepted, and some take 12 hours or more because of lockdowns, shift changes, short staffing or paperwork problems. Chad confirms where and when he'll be released before you drive out to Castaic.
