My name is Chad Conley. I love to help. I give straightforward personal service. I help you lay out and understand your options should you post bond, leave them in until court date, discuss bond reduction, posting bond now versus later, etc.

Does posting a bond quickly matter?
Sometimes. Here's why. When you post a bond at the Walnut Sheriff Department, your release time is about 30 minutes to an hour on average. If you are transferred to the county, you will have the transportation time (1 hour), and then you will be booked into the county, starting from the beginning, with an average booking time of 6-8 hours. After this, the bondsman must get to the jail and post the bond. Once the county sheriff receives the bond, the release time is 6 - 8 hours from this point. This means that if transferred to the county, they will go through an average of 16 + hours of transport, booking in, and release time.

Who gets transferred to the county?
Not everyone arrested and booked at Walnut Sheriff gets transferred. Many are booked and housed until their court arraignment, which is usually at the Pomona Superior Court and within a few days.
This allows you, the cosigners, to breathe a little easier while getting bond paperwork and finances handled, and them not in jeopardy of being transferred.
So who gets transferred?
If you have a medical or medication need, you will be transferred.
If you have existing warrants, those are generally handled by the LA County Superior Court or the county in which the warrant is out. Most of these will be transferred to the county's main jail for extradition.
If you are on probation or parole, this current situation is most likely a violation.
These are some of the reasons you may be transferred to the LA County Main Jail.

If you are arrested in the City of Walnut, City of Diamond Bar, Rowland Heights, or the unincorporated areas of Covina Hills and West Covina, there is a chance you will be taken to the Walnut/ Diamond Bar Sheriff Station for initial booking.
It is important to act quickly when they are being booked to determine whether they will be transferred after booking to the County Jail. Oftentimes, Walnut will book but not house.
