Court Day Guide: East County Regional Center (El Cajon)

Getting there

  • 250 East Main Street, El Cajon. The criminal business office is open 8:30 AM to 4 PM, Monday to Friday (closed court holidays).
  • Many office phones are only answered 8:30 to 11:30 AM on weekdays, so call early.
  • Get there early. Security lines and parking can take a while on busy mornings.

If you're out on bail

  • Go to every court date, on time. If they miss court, the judge can issue a bench warrant and forfeit the bail.
  • Running late or already missed it? Call Chad right away. The sooner we know, the easier it is to fix.
  • After every hearing, text or call Chad with the next court date.
  • Bring a photo ID and any court papers. Leave knives, tools and anything sharp at home or in the car. Everyone goes through security.

If bail changes at court, or they're in custody

  • Sometimes a judge raises bail or orders someone into custody right in the courtroom. If that happens, they’re taken to a Sheriff jail.
  • Call Chad from the hallway with their full name, case number and the new bail amount, if the judge set one. We can start the new bond right away.
  • In San Diego County, bail bonds are delivered in person to the custody office at a Sheriff jail. Our local posting agent handles that, so you don’t have to.

After the bond

The bond is just the start. Chad stays with you.

Price matters. But a lot of bail companies are salespeople sitting at a desk. They sell you the bond on the phone that night, and after that you get passed from department to department. With Chad, the same person who writes your bond is the one who picks up when something comes up.

Missed a court date?

Call Chad right away. We help you get back on the court calendar and get it fixed before it gets worse.

Bail raised, or charges added?

We explain what happened and handle the change to the bond.

A new case, or an old one just now filed?

Sometimes charges show up for something from before. We work through it with you.

Questions about your payments?

You talk to us, not a collections department.

A real example (name changed)

Fred missed his court date, and he still owed a balance. Chad helped him anyway. He stayed up late with him and put together the paperwork to ask the court to reinstate his bond. On the way to court, Fred's car broke down and got towed, with the paperwork inside. So Chad did it all over again, and Fred came by the office to pick up a new set.

You could roll the dice on whoever quotes the cheapest bond on the phone. Or you could have a bondsman who picks up when it really matters.
