Yes, not always, but most of the time it does. If you were arrested for a warrant or need medical assistance, you will be booked and transferred to the LA County Jail, Twin Towers, or the Lynwood Sheriff Facility is where women are transferred generally..  

If you post a bail bond at the San Dimas Sheriff's, you can generally be released in as little as 15 minutes to maybe a couple of hours. If transferred, you will have the travel time and county jail booking in time before they will accept a bond. This could take 4 - 8 hours for them to be ready to accept a bond. Once the bond is posted/ accepted, the release time from there is 4-8 hours more to go through the release process. 

First thing I will do is communicate with the sheriff's jailor to let them know we are working with the family and are en route, and a transfer is not necessary. This will not stop them if they are in process already but many times it is helpful and gives us just enough time. If there is no risk of transfer, we are able to let the family know and it relieves stress just a little bit to get the paperwork completed. 

Yes. If the arrestee, while being booked, needs medical assistance of any kind, this will extremely elongate the booking and release process. Sometimes the person may be stressed or have anxiety about going into the general population while being booked so they express this and are sent to see medical. Once you see medical, they will often hold you for 24 + hours prior to giving a medical release. Only after the medical release can the release process start.
